The Future of Universities

Wednesday 15th February 2012

6:30pm-9:30pm, £13pp

UCA, Epsom, Surrey

Universities are seldom out of the news and all aspects of higher education are being examined.

In October, the RSA Fellows' Network in Chichester and the University of Portsmouth hosted an evening to examine the future of higher education in Britain. To follow on from that event, Fellows from RSA Networks in South Central and South East have teamed up with the UCA to host an evening to examine the future of higher education in Britain. A further event is planned for 26th September 2012 to conclude the series.

We will be joined by a panel of five speakers, all leaders in their various fields, who will share their thoughts on what the future holds for British universities.

The panel includes:

Matthew Taylor, CEO, RSA
Chris Millward, Associate Director, HEFCE;
Dr Simon Ofield-Kerr, Vice-Chancellor, University for the Creative Arts;
Nigel Biggs, Entrepreneur in Residence, University of Surrey;
Colin Tweedy, OBE, Chief Executive of Arts & Business and Chairman of CEREC;
Usman Ali, NUS Vice President (Higher Education)

Each speaker will put forward one or two key points in a five minute slot, which will lead the audience into conversations around tables where their ideas are collected. These ideas and thoughts will be brought back to the speakers, who will provide their response. A short open, well facilitated, dialogue will follow.
